1. While many people can get away with using a lighter cleanser during the summer months when the air tends to be a bit more humid, Fall and Winter both dictate the necessity for cleansers that will clean effectively without stripping your skin of essential moisture.
Helpful hint: When looking for a good cleanser, avoid products that contain SLS (Sodium lauryl and sodium laureth sulfates) because they are actually common pesticides used to kill plants and insects. They have corrosive properties, pollute our groundwater, and are known skin irritants. While bar soaps have improved somewhat over the years, they still tend to be more drying than liquid face washes because the binders that hold them together usually have a higher pH level* than ingredients formulated for the face. Our recommendation: Try Gentle Aromatherapy Face Wash by La Ishá. It cleanses effectively without irritation or drying out the skin. It is not oily, and can be used safely on all skintypes.
*pH stands for potential hydrogen and refers to the acid-alkaline balance. If your skin is too acidic you are more likely to break out and experience skin irritations. If it is too alkaline, your skin may become too dry.
